Breaking Bread

A Dementia Awareness Café

Breaking Bread was an installation made in collaboration with Eliza-Jane Gilchrist. The work investigated prejudices inherent in the Western medical diagnostic systems in relation to people living with dementia. In doing so it sought to reframe how society perceives a person with dementia and create new pathways for inclusion and worth.

Breaking Bread Poem

what would you do if you could no longer compete?

what would you do if you could no longer judge?

what would you do if you could no longer plan?

can you still laugh?

can you still weep?

can you hold hands?

do you love?

can you smell the freshly baked bread?

who are you now?
