Burning. Standing. Sitting.

Weird Sanctuaries Residency with Punctum Inc.

Burning. Standing. Spitting. was a two-part live art experiment investigating the following questions:

How can we stand in the fire of crisis?  What can people who have lived with or are living with/in crisis tell us about how to live within the crisis of climate change?

A bunker. Scavenged chairs. A solitary light. The Elders are assembled.

Part 1.

A round-bunker discussion about the experience of crisis, and what it can teach us in relation to climate change. 14 participants drew on personal experiences with chronic illness, immigration, ecological decline, death and colonisation. Guest speakers included Josh Meadows (ACF); Susie Burke (climate psychologist); Hana Cormick (performing art and disability advocate) and Uncle Ron Murray.

Part 2.

Dreaming Missive is the artistic response to Part 1. It was delivered as a densely packed postcard to Punctum HQ: a crip expression of the live-art event that may have been.
